For 30 days, Pfendler has navigated the Pacific alone aboard a 24-foot fiberglass boat. She embarked on her journey from Monterey, California, on May 21, with Hawaii’s Oahu Island as her final destination, covering a total distance of 2,400 miles. “My boat was moving extremely slowly, and the crew were afraid I might be in trouble out here at sea,” Pfendler recounted in the video. “They radioed me to check if I was safe and doing well. We had a wonderful 10-minute radio chat. At first, they were confused about my solo rowing mission, and then they grew concerned that I might run short of food and drinking water. I told them I was fully prepared and safe.” She added that the captain and his crew were incredibly warm, supportive and encouraging, and their kindness became a bright spot during her grueling journey.
