Zaozhuang city resembling Manhattan skyline goes viral

A scenic area in Zaozhuang city, Shandong Province in East China, has been nicknamed the “Zaozhuang version of Manhattan” because it looks similar to the famous Manhattan skyline in New York City. This has drawn a large number of local inhabitants and tourists from the vicinity to come and visit the city.

This Manhattan – like landmark, which has two 150 – meter – high skyscrapers in the city center, is situated close to Zaozhuang’s municipal square. The Zaozhuang Cultural and Tourism Bureau stated on its WeChat account that its modern geometric architecture and urban scenery bear a certain similarity to the metropolitan features of the renowned Manhattan in New York City.

As reported by Shangyou News, many visitors have made dedicated trips to visit this place, and video clips about it have become extremely popular online.

The attraction has quickly turned into a popular spot in Zaozhuang. Especially on weekends, families pour into the municipal square to take pictures. According to the report, young couples also like to propose marriage at this location.

An official from Zaozhuang’s Cultural and Tourism Bureau mentioned that this internet – famous place started to gain popularity about two weeks ago. It was first noticed by local influencers and then became widely known on social media as enthusiastic netizens shared photography advice. The bureau has put up information signs with photography guidance and recommended the best shooting angles to improve the experience of visitors.
