Guangzhou–Shanghai in 7 Hours: Half-Day Train Starts July 1

A new high-speed train service between Guangzhou East and Shanghai Hongqiao commenced operation on July 1, significantly reducing the travel time between the two major cities to only 7 hours and 13 minutes .

The G800 train leaves Guangzhou East at 12:12 PM and arrives at Shanghai Hongqiao at 7:25 PM, enabling passengers to have lunch in Guangzhou and dinner in Shanghai, which is a huge advantage for both business and leisure travelers . The G800 makes stops at key stations such as Xintang, Huizhou North, Ganzhou West, Nanchang West, Jinhua, and Hangzhou East, enhancing intercity connections and allowing more communities along the route to benefit from the convenience and economic benefits of high-speed rail .

In addition to this flagship service, there are still 26 end-to-end trains operating daily on the Guangzhou-Hong Kong West Kowloon route, providing a seamless and direct connection to the core of Hong Kong. This provides an efficient passage for cross-border business, tourism, and cultural exchanges, further integrating the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into an interconnected and dynamic living circle .

Meanwhile, there are 18 cross-line trains running daily on the Hangzhou-Shenzhen corridor, effectively linking the Yangtze River Delta with the Western Taiwan Strait Economic Zone. Together with the new benchmark G800 service, these routes are helping to construct a fast passenger rail network along the southeast coast, strengthening regional
