The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines issued a warning on Sunday, urging Chinese nationals to exercise caution in light of increasing incidents of armed robberies, drug-related thefts, exchange frauds, and other thefts in the country.

In response to recent security concerns in certain areas, the embassy released an advisory detailing several cases that involved Chinese citizens and resulted in substantial financial and personal losses.

Chinese nationals are advised to avoid high-risk areas, travel in groups, and limit unnecessary outings at night.

The embassy also cautioned against interacting with strangers, dining with them, or visiting bars and nightclubs. It recommended avoiding food, drinks, or cigarettes offered by strangers and keeping food and drinks in sight when eating.

Additionally, the embassy urged individuals to stay alert when in unfamiliar places, keep their families informed about their whereabouts and plans, and have emergency contact information for relatives and consulates readily available.

Chinese nationals were further advised to avoid flaunting wealth or carrying large amounts of cash and valuables. In crowded areas, they should stay vigilant and protect their personal belongings.

The embassy also recommended that currency exchanges be conducted through legitimate channels such as banks to avoid scams or illegal dealings.

Tourists were reminded to securely store their travel documents, such as passports, to prevent theft.
