Starting September 21, Shanghai has revised the names of nine metro stations across various lines.

The affected stations are as follows:

1. Xujing East Station on Line 2 and Zhuguang Road Station on Line 17 have been renamed to “National Exhibition and Convention Center” Station.

2. Dongchang Road Station on Line 2 is now called “Pudong South Road” Station.

3. Pudong International Airport Station on both Line 2 and the Maglev Line has been changed to “Pudong Terminal 1 and 2” Station.

4. Pudian Road Station on Line 4 has been updated to “Xiangcheng Road” Station.

5. Yuanshen Stadium on Line 6 is now known in English as “Yuanshen Sports Center”.

6. Songjiang South Railway Station on Line 9 has been renamed to “Shanghai Songjiang” Station.

7. Huajing West Station on Line 15 is now “Jinghong Road” Station.

8. The previously planned Chongming Line has been officially designated as Line 22 by the city’s naming authorities, which is reflected in updated paper and digital maps.

Starting September 21, the 2024 version of the Shanghai Metro Network Diagram will be gradually updated across all metro stations and train carriages. This new diagram includes several upcoming lines set to open in the coming years and reflects the renaming of the nine stations. The legend for “out-of-station transfers” has also been modified.

Passengers are advised to carefully review the updated diagrams for important notices regarding “lines not yet open” to ensure correct information on station openings and transfer routes. The latest version of the metro network can be accessed via platforms such as the official Shanghai Metro website (service.shmetro.com) and the Metro Daduhui app.
