Brazil’s federal government made the announcement on Thursday that starting May 11, 2026, Chinese nationals with valid regular passports will be granted visa-free entry into the country.
As stated in Brazil’s official official journal, this new policy is designed to make travel more convenient for Chinese visitors coming for tourism, business trips, transit layovers, as well as artistic and sports-related events.
Following the principle of reciprocal treatment, Brazil will exempt ordinary Chinese passport holders from visa obligations. Eligible visitors may stay in Brazil for a maximum of 30 consecutive days, and this period cannot be extended.
The temporary visa-free arrangement will remain in effect only through December 31, 2026.
