The Henan Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters in central China upgraded its emergency response from Level IV to Level III at 1:00 pm on Thursday due to ongoing heavy rainfall. Mandatory measures—including halting production, business, classes, transportation, and outdoor group activities—will be enforced.
Zhengzhou’s Zhongyuan district has already seen over 90 mm of rain, with more expected across the main urban area, including thunderstorms, strong winds, and short-term downpours.
Authorities warn that this round of rainfall is prolonged, widespread, intense, and overlapping with previously affected regions, raising disaster risks. Officials must closely monitor vulnerable areas like mountain torrents, geological hazards, small rivers, reservoirs, and tailings dams. Urban flood control, rail transit, overpasses, tunnels, and underground spaces require heightened precautions, with prompt evacuations if needed.
Flood control teams must conduct 24-hour patrols, while emergency responders should stay on standby to minimize losses and ensure public safety.
