On Saturday, China’s meteorological authorities issued a renewed yellow alert for an impending cold wave, forecasting a sharp drop in temperatures across most of the country over the coming days.

From Saturday through Tuesday, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) warns that regions in central and eastern China, along with the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, are anticipated to witness temperature decreases ranging from 6 to 10 degrees Celsius.

The NMC urges the public to stay warm and takes the opportunity to recommend necessary precautions for safeguarding crops and aquatic products.
Additionally, the center has reissued a yellow alert for dense fog, cautioning that visibility in certain areas, including the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, and East China Sea, will decrease to less than 1 kilometer. It further notes that in some coastal regions of northeast and east China, visibility may plummet to less than 500 meters.

Drivers are advised to maintain safe driving speeds, while airports, highways, and ports are directed to adopt suitable safety measures.

China employs a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather conditions, with red signifying the most severe, followed by orange, yellow, and blue in descending order of severity.
