On February 6th, China and Brunei issued a joint statement with the objective of enhancing their strategic partnership and promoting the building of a shared community. The statement emphasized that Brunei was grateful for China’s unilateral visa – free policy. Under this policy, Brunei citizens with ordinary passports are permitted to stay in China for a maximum of 30 days.

Conversely, China expressed its support for Brunei’s decision to grant 14 – day visa – free entry to Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports. Both countries are of the view that these visa – free measures will greatly stimulate personnel exchanges in multiple sectors, such as tourism, culture, commerce, education, transportation, healthcare, sports, infrastructure, and friendly city cooperation projects. Brunei is especially eager to attract more Chinese tourists, as it is believed that this will deepen mutual understanding and cultural ties between the two nations.
