Twin brothers from southeastern China, Zeng Zichong and Zeng Ziyi, have amazed social media after both scoring 666 on the national college entrance exam (gaokao) and being admitted to the same program at Xi’an Jiaotong University.
The brothers, from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, have never been apart since kindergarten. Their names reflect their parents’ hope—they were named “Zichong” (meaning “a bird soaring”) and “Ziyi” (meaning “to assist”).
After taking their gaokao, the twins were out driving when their father saw their identical scores of 666 on his phone. Their mother shared the news in the family chat, leaving even the brothers shocked.
Both excel academically, with Zichong strong in Chinese and English, and Ziyi in math and physics. They often help each other understand difficult concepts. Their shared interest in computer science led them to both join Xi’an Jiaotong University’s Engineering Experimental Class (Computer Science and Technology).
The university congratulated them, calling their synchronicity “not just fate but a testament to their strength.” The brothers plan to keep pursuing their dreams together.
