On the afternoon of August 1, an alleged announcement from Google China began circulating online, stating:
“Starting September 1, 2025, Google has been approved to fully resume its services in mainland China. (Its China headquarters remains at Building 1, Courtyard 2, Nansanlu, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Haidian District, Beijing, occupying floors 4.5, 6, 7, and rooms 801–806, 808–814 on floor 8.) Following active communication and cooperation with Chinese authorities, Google officially returns to the mainland market.”
In response, Sina Technology contacted Google China for verification. A spokesperson clarified: “The screenshot is not from Google.”
