A 24-year-old French adventurer, Killian Le Guyader, has won hearts across China after cycling some 18,000 km from Rennes, France to Beijing, crossing 30+ countries. In early December, a video of him atop the Great Wall went viral as he told his mother, “I made it.” Le Guyader, who has battled Lyme disease since age 14, dedicated the ride to others living with chronic illness, saying, “Everything is possible.” He covered roughly 10,000 km solo across Europe and Asia (with a friend through Turkey and Georgia), braving extreme weather and altitudes above 3,000 m. The trip cost about €15,000, partly sponsored, and after six weeks in China he returned to France in early December. Chinese netizens praised his perseverance and courage.
