A man from Zhejiang Province in East China experienced severe vision impairment, with only 0.1 vision in both eyes, after using a fascia gun to massage his eyes, as reported by China’s state broadcaster CCTV on Wednesday.
For the past year, he noticed his vision deteriorating but didn’t seek medical help because it didn’t significantly impact his daily activities. However, when his vision became extremely blurred, he finally visited an ophthalmologist.
Tests revealed his vision was reduced to 0.1 in both eyes. He was diagnosed with cataracts and signs of lens dislocation.
The man frequently suffered from headaches and eye fatigue. Occasionally, he used a fascia gun to massage around his eyes, which temporarily relieved the discomfort. Consequently, he regularly massaged his eyes this way.
Since he had no history of trauma or other apparent causes for lens dislocation, doctors concluded that the high-frequency vibrations from the fascia gun likely damaged the suspensory ligaments in his eyes, resulting in his condition.
The report also mentioned a similar case involving a woman from Fujian Province in East China, who used a fascia gun on her eyes and developed comparable symptoms, including cataracts and significant vision loss.
