In a residential area on Choujiang Street, Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, a foreign resident recently experienced an acute cerebral infarction, commonly known as a stroke, leaving him trapped inside his home. A coordinated rescue effort involving firefighters, medical personnel, and police was quickly initiated.

At 1:58 PM, the Yiwu Fire Rescue Brigade’s 119 Command Center received an emergency alert transferred from the 110 Command Center. The caller reported that her husband had suddenly fallen ill and was unable to move, locked inside their home and in urgent need of rescue. The command center immediately dispatched the Choujiang Street fire team to respond to the situation.

Firefighters arrived at the scene by 2:05 PM. They were informed that the caller would return home in 40 minutes, but the smart door lock had malfunctioned. Multiple attempts to enter the password failed, and the lock was secured from the inside, making it impossible to open without breaking it. With the caller’s consent, Incident Commander Ji Xiongjun directed the team to use tools such as crowbars, a cutting machine, and hydraulic equipment to force the door open.

Upon entering the residence, rescuers discovered the foreigner lying on his back in bed, with only slight movement in his left hand and foot. His right side was completely numb and unresponsive. Medical personnel on the scene initially diagnosed him with an acute stroke and advised immediate hospitalization.

The foreigner, who weighed nearly 300 pounds, required considerable assistance to be moved. The combined efforts of the fire, police, and medical teams successfully lifted him, but the stretcher was too large to fit into the elevator on the building’s fifth floor. Additionally, the narrow stairwell made it impractical to carry him down the stairs, as it would have delayed the rescue.

The rescue team, in collaboration with community property staff, quickly adapted their approach. They carefully repositioned the man into a sitting position and transported him via the elevator to the ground floor. Once there, he was placed back onto the stretcher.

By 2:31 PM, the foreigner was successfully transported to the hospital, where medical staff confirmed he had suffered an acute stroke with arterial blockage. Thanks to the prompt intervention and subsequent surgery, his condition was stabilized.
