Customs officials at Luohu Port in Shenzhen, located in South China’s Guangdong Province, recently handled a case involving marijuana smuggling. They intercepted 4.82 grams of the drug hidden within the insoles of a traveler’s shoes.

The incident took place at approximately 7 p.m. when customs officers observed a traveler exhibiting nervousness and unusual behavior, which led them to suspect that the individual might be carrying illegal items.

Upon conducting a detailed search, officers discovered a clear plastic bag containing a plant-like substance with a distinctive odor beneath the passenger’s shoe insole. Initial tests confirmed that the substance was marijuana. The suspect has been taken into custody, and further investigation is ongoing.

This case highlights the vigilant efforts of Chinese customs in combating smuggling, particularly drug trafficking, and underscores that attempts to transport illegal substances are likely to result in detection and legal consequences.
