An off-duty police officer was attacked in Tsim Sha Tsui early this morning. Two online video clips depict a 35-year-old Pakistani man brandishing a knife, repeatedly stabbing a local man dressed in black on Nathan Road. The victim sustained severe injuries, resulting in a bloody scene as bystanders attempted to intervene.

The victim, identified as an off-duty officer from the Police Tactical Unit (PTU), had been walking toward Mong Kok after dining in Tsim Sha Tsui. He was reportedly assaulted at the intersection of Nathan Road and Nanking Street, where a male suspect snatched his wallet. Even though the officer identified himself as a police officer while pursuing the assailant, the suspect dropped the wallet and attacked him with a knife.

Bystanders witnessed the altercation, with one person urging the attacker to stop, to which the assailant chillingly replied, “I know.” The struggle continued as the victim tried to restrain the attacker. After managing to break free, the assailant fled the scene.

Following the attack, the officer was left bleeding on the ground and called for help. Emergency services arrived and transported him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition despite suffering multiple stab wounds.

Police have since captured the suspect, who remains in custody while investigations are ongoing.
