A group of five brothers from a remote village in southwestern China has rocketed to online fame—amassing over 2 million fans in just one month—with their heartfelt tribute to K-pop legends BigBang. Known as Bengshan Kalaka, the Guan brothers blend dazzling performances with down-to-earth charm, winning hearts worldwide.

From Bar Performances to Viral Stardom

The group consists of Guan Heng and his four younger siblings, hailing from Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. Longtime fans of BigBang—the iconic 2006-debuted group renowned for pioneering K-pop’s fusion of hip-hop, EDM, and R&B (and once dubbed the “Kings of K-pop,” now reduced to three active members)—the brothers channel their idol’s signature style in every performance.

Guan, a former bar performer and part-time barber/construction worker, has idolized BigBang for years, often singing their hits like Fantastic Babyand If Youin covers. Inspired to create something bigger, he returned home to form a boy band with his brothers, crafting their own BigBang-inspired act from scratch.

DIY Stardom: From Makeup to Korean Pronunciation

Teaching himself makeup, musical arrangements, and even fluent Korean pronunciation, Guan took on the role of G-Dragon (the group’s leader and main vocalist) due to his strongest vocals. His second brother, with a deeper voice, became the rapper, while the remaining three specialize in dance.

Their live streams are as unique as they are entertaining:

  • Rustic Stage Setup: Performances unfold against a backdrop of skewered chili peppers, an electric tricycle, and a smoky atmosphere from burning corn stalks.
  • Farmyard Surprises: Chickens, ducks, and geese occasionally wander onstage, forcing impromptu cleanup breaks.
  • Farm Life Balance: After their hour-long streams (attracting 300,000+ daily viewers), the brothers return to help their mother with farm chores.
  • Furry Co-Star: Their dog, Huahua, often joins as a special guest.

Despite their humble beginnings—recreating glittering K-pop glam with zero resources—their talent and authenticity have made them an internet sensation. Their story is a testament to passion, family teamwork, and the universal appeal of music.
