The Chinese embassy in Tokyo has issued a security warning following an assault on two Chinese citizens in Japan’s capital on Thursday.
According to Japanese media, the incident occurred around 9 a.m. in Tokyo’s Kanda district, where four unidentified men armed with iron pipes attacked the victims as they were walking. Both men suffered head injuries, though their lives are not in danger.
Police are investigating the attack and searching for the suspects, described as being in their 20s and previously unknown to the victims. The attackers reportedly made no demands for money or valuables.
In response, the Chinese embassy swiftly contacted the injured men and visited the local police station, pressing Japanese authorities to accelerate efforts to capture the perpetrators.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated that Beijing had immediately raised concerns with Tokyo and is closely monitoring the situation. “We urge Japan to take concrete steps to safeguard the security of Chinese nationals,” Guo emphasized.
