It is anticipated that an agreement on reciprocal visa-free travel will be inked when Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev pays a visit to China. As reported, this was revealed during the 10th session of the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation. Officials emphasized that such an agreement will serve as a powerful catalyst for bilateral exchanges and contribute to an upsurge in the number of mutual visits.
In recent years, there has been a consistent rise in the number of Chinese tourists traveling to Azerbaijan. This upward trend has been particularly noticeable since Azerbaijan introduced a unilateral visa-free policy for Chinese citizens. The forthcoming mutual visa exemption agreement will further enhance the ease of travel for citizens of both countries, capitalizing on the existing positive momentum and propelling bilateral relations into a new era.
Starting from July 20 last year, Azerbaijan has been implementing a one-year unilateral visa-free policy for Chinese citizens. Once the mutual visa-free agreement is formally signed, it will smoothly succeed the current temporary visa exemption arrangement.
