On Tuesday afternoon, police took four individuals into custody after they reportedly tried to cash a counterfeit check valued at US$10 billion at a bank in Hong Kong.

The event unfolded at approximately 3 p.m. at a branch situated in The Belcher’s on Belcher’s Street. Bank employees grew suspicious upon seeing the enormous check the group sought to withdraw and promptly notified the police.

When law enforcement arrived, they arrested two Vietnamese women, one local man, and one man from the Chinese mainland on suspicion of using a forged document.

The four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue. A female bank staff member who was present during the incident was unharmed, and no money was disbursed.
